Code of Ethics Het Patel
This is my personal code of ethics written in reference to the Society of Graphic Designers of Canada. I am
currently not a member of society.
There are the principles upon which I interact with my clients and stakeholders.
The Profession
Knowledge is one of the pillar internet industry. I shall continue to seek knowledge

I will not break any municipal, provincial or federal laws in relation to my practice.

I will not disclose any confidential information of any third party unless compelled by the law to do
so.

I will not discredit or misrepresent the qualification or capabilities of my peers.

I will not knowingly accept an assignment from a client when one of my peers has been assigned to do so
by the client.

I will seek prior approval from the designer to obtain proper handover or assurance that all the
previous
appointments are terminated by the client.

I will not compete with other designers by any means of unethical grounds.
Clients & Employers
I pledge to put my client’s interests first in order to earn their trust.

I will act in my client’s best interest in accordance with my code.

I will provide my services with reasonable skills and judgement.

I will not simultaneously work on assignments that create conflict without prior consent.

I will not disclose any information about work in progress to press or public platforms without prior
consent.

I will not withdraw services without reasonable cause and prior written notice.

I will complete every signed contract within the limit of my code of ethics.

I will disclose detailed fees for the services provided in the written itemized invoice.
The Society and the Environment

I will not accept assignments that involve the infringement of another person’s or group’s human rights
or
property rights.

I will not display a lack of knowledge, skill or judgment or disregard for the public or the environment
of
nature.

I will not contact clients or employees of my client without prior consent.

I will not discriminate based on race or the ability of an individual. Diversity will be evident in my
work.
Competitions and Fees

I will follow procedures that support fair and open competition based upon professional merit for the
best
interest of the public.

I will not take part or conduct any open competitions for commercial purposes on speculation.

I will not take on assignments based on speculative work or engagement that promises payment after
completion.

I will not take on assignments without compensation with the exception of pro-bono assignments.
Pro-bono assignments will be chosen based on qualifying criteria.

I will not accept compensations of any form for advising or referral of fellow consultants or designers.
Intellectual Property and Authorship

I will not copy or use the design of fellow designers knowingly, I will acquire prior consent or the
agreement
from the person who owns the copyright of the original work.

I will not take credit for other designer’s work as my own. I will acquire prior consent or agreement.
-
I will not take sole credit for the work on which other designers have contributed.
-
I will identify my specific responsibility for collaborative work completed with my peers.
-
I will ask for design credits from my clients when it is suitable to do so.
